STC® Classroom Safety Sheets
Carolina wants you and your students' experience with
STC to be instructive, fun, and safe.
Because the units were developed for young children,
they do not include items or activities that are hazardous
when used or performed according to the instructions.
Still, there is room for caution. The teacher's guides
for the units include safety tips or classroom management
suggestions to minimize any hazards. There is also
a set of classroom safety sheets included in each
kit.
Before
starting a new unit, please read your teacher's guide
thoroughly and do the following:
- Hand
out the classroom safety sheets and go over them
with your students. Make sure your students understand
the general science safety rules as well as any
specific precautions associated with particular
activities.
- Post
a list of science safety rules in the classroom.
Your
students will develop laboratory safety skills early
in their careers if you emphasize safety as a component
of each science activity.
You
can download additional classroom safety sheets from
us if you need them. If you do not already have
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader installed,
you will need it to download, view, or print these
files.
