  • Evidence of Effectiveness
Educational studies are beginning to show that student learning increases after the use of an inquiry-based science curriculum. Remarkably, the studies also indicate that this benefit extends to subjects like reading, writing, language development, and math. For more information, click on the following links:

  • Correlations to Standards
The STC® units were developed to closely align with the National Science Education Standards (NSES). The units also align favorably with many state learning frameworks. To view the national or North Carolina correlation, click one of the links below. You will need Adobe® Acrobat® Reader to view these documents.
  • Unit Conceptual Storylines (concept maps)
A conceptual storyline (or concept map) is a visual representation of the major concepts developed during an inquiry-based science unit. The conceptual storylines for all NC-adopted STC® units have been compiled into one document to provide an overview of lesson flow and show how concepts build on each other throughout the units.
