Model Magma™ in the Catastrophic Events Kit
For the STC/MS™ module Catastrophic Events, instructions in the Teacher’s Guide direct teachers to create the Model Magma™ mixture shortly before it’s needed in Lesson 19 (ideally, no more than one week before use). However, if you need to mix the Model Magma™ more than a week in advance, store the batch at room temperature in a location without temperature extremes.

If Model Magma™ sits for a long period of time, it may appear to return to a more liquid state and may even separate slightly. Should this happen, thoroughly shake or stir the mixture again before you pour the Model Magma™ into students’ individual containers. The liquid in the mixture will separate out completely after about 6 months. Once this happens, the mixture should be discarded and a new batch of Model Magma™ prepared.
