STC PROGRAM Update
Spring 2006
With
this issue, STC Update is getting a slight name change.
Welcome to STC PROGRAM Update, a quarterly newsletter that
provides helpful information about the Science and Technology
Curriculum PROGRAM™.
If you’re a long-time
newsletter reader, don’t worry—the new name doesn’t mean the curriculum has
changed. The STC PROGRAM™ includes the same inquiry-based science units
teachers have relied on for more than a decade—the 24 original Science and
Technology for Children® (STC®) units developed for grades K–6, and the 8
Science and Technology Concepts for Middle Schools™ (STC/MS™) units for
grades 6–8.
Nor does the name change
affect the content of this newsletter. STC PROGRAM Update will still
spotlight users of the STC PROGRAM™, answer questions, provide ideas and
tips, announce product changes, and more. Contact me with your questions,
suggestions, and ideas.
Look for the next STC
PROGRAM Update the second week in May.
Thanks,
Cindy Dillon

"Parts
Is Parts"?

Properties of Matter
component change
Occasionally an STC® or STC/MS™ kit component will
change—a vendor discontinues the product or Carolina finds a
similar item that’s better designed or less expensive but
still high quality. Recently the STC/MS™ unit Properties
of Matter had 2 component changes, plus the unit
developer came up with alternatives for using potassium
permanganate.
