In Conjectures and Transformations, the relationships between the area and the perimeter of rectangles and non-rectangles are explored.

Math Out of the Box^® Conjectures and Transformations

Students make and test conjectures about the perimeter and area of regular two-dimensional shapes. They explore a set of three-dimensional shapes to develop comparisons of polyhedra, cones, and cylinders. They classify triangles and quadrilaterals according to their properties and explore transformations and tessellations. A Bright Idea Geometry Journal is kept throughout the lessons.

Conjectures and Transformations comes with a Teacher’s Guide that covers 20 lessons on two- and three-dimensional shapes, pre- and post-assessment questions, blackline masters of student sheets, a rubric and checklist for maintaining student progress, and enough hands-on manipulatives to engage a classroom of 30 students.
