  GEMS® Ocean Sciences Sequence (Grades 35)
This sequence develops students’ ocean literacy by teaching standards-based science concepts and building inquiry skills in the compelling context of ocean science. Students learn that the ocean is big, deep, and the defining feature of our planet. The Ocean Sciences Sequence for Grades 3-5 covers the following topics:

Unit 1: What Kind of Place Is the Ocean?
Unit 2: What Is Life Like in the Ocean?
Unit 3: How Are Humans and the Ocean Connected?

Over the 3 units, each lasting 2 to 3 weeks, students learn about the different physical features of the ocean, the diversity of its habitats and the organisms that live in it, and the connections between people and the ocean.

Kit comes with a Teacher's Guide and the materials needed for a class of 32. Refurbishment Set replenishes kit consumables.

In the Kit:
Unit Kit comes with a Teacher's Guide containing 3 units, each with 6 to 11 sixty-minute class sessions, CD-ROM (containing multimedia components for use by the teacher and the students, color transparencies and copy masters for duplication or electronic presentation), and the materials needed for a class of 32.
