Teach students about the fascinating world beneath their feet with this earth science unit for grades 2-4. Your class will use tools and processes that real geologists use to categorize large, high-quality rock and mineral samples. Your class will also learn how rocks form and the value of keeping records and comparing findings with peers and using data to make predictions.
The STC Program™ is a basal, inquiry-based science curriculum for grades K–10 that covers life, earth, and physical sciences with technology. STC™ was developed by the National Science Resources Center based on research into how students learn best. The NSRC was established by the National Academies and the Smithsonian Institution.
