Learn why objects go and stop in this physical science unit for grades 3-5. Students use K’NEX® sets exclusive to STC to build model cars from accurate technical drawings, or designed to meet specific challenges. Not only will your class learn how to make a car go fast or far, but how to carry a load, resist air, and more. As part of the final design challenge, K’NEX® pieces are assigned a price, and students are asked to build a car not only to specifications but also at the lowest price.
The STC Program™ is a basal, inquiry-based science curriculum for grades K–10 that covers life, earth, and physical sciences with technology. STC™ was developed by the National Science Resources Center based on research into how students learn best. The NSRC was established by the National Academies and the Smithsonian Institution.
