Test the properties of household materials with this physical science
unit for grades 2-4. Investigations in this unit familiarize students
with basic chemistry concepts, principally that materials can be
categorized by their physical and chemical behaviors. Simple tests are
applied to a selection of solids and liquids with the findings applied
to unknowns in an embedded assessment.
The STC Program™ is a basal, inquiry-based science curriculum for grades K–10 that covers life, earth, and physical sciences with technology. STC™ was developed by the National Science Resources Center based on research into how students learn best. The NSRC was established by the National Academies and the Smithsonian Institution.

have different chemical and physical properties. |
  |
Chemical
and physical tests may be used to identify the
properties of materials. |
 |
Unknown
solids and liquids may be classified on the
basis of their physical and chemical properties. |
